Xiaoping Li (Co-owner, Head Coach)

Li Xiaoping is the co-founder and head coach of the boys program for South Coast Gymnastics. Deriving from his experience as a world champion gymnast, Xiaoping founded South Coast gymnastics in 1997 and  the program continues to excel today.  Highlights of Xiaoping's career:

  • 1981 World Championships gold medalist on the Pommel Horse
  • 1983 World Championships team gold medalist
  • 1984 Olympic silver medalist
  • 1992-1996,2012 JO National Men's Coaching Staff
  • 1998-1999 SCMGA's "Coach of the Year" recipient
  • FIG (international), National and Regional Judge
  • 2008 Beijing Olympics Gymnastics Director
  • 25+ years of coaching experience

Jia Wen (Co-owner, Head Coach)

Jia Wen is the co-founder and head coach of the girls program for South Coast Gymnastics.  Jia started gymnastics at the age of 8 for the Chinese Army team, moving on to compete for the Chinese National Team in 1977.  Coming to the United States in 1987, she co-founded South Coast Gymnastics along with Li Xioping.

  • 1998-1999 SCWGA "Coach of the Year" recipient

Songling Liu (Optional Team Coach)

  • Coached Chinese National and Olympic gymnasts
  • Former Elite gymnast
  • Former Chinese national team J.O. Program Coach
  • Nationally ranked judge
  • Current Compulsory and Optional boys and girls Team Coach
  • 25+ years of coaching experience

Jane Zhao (Girls Optional Team Coach)

  • Former Elite Gymnast of the Chinese National Team
  • Trained former Chinese National Champions and two Olympic gymnasts
  • Current Compulsory and Optional Girls Team Coach
  • 30+ years of coaching experience

Pamela Armel (Girls Hotshot and Compulsory Team Coach)

  • Former Mexican gymnast
  • Former Athlete and Assistant Coach at CSU Fullerton
  • Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology Sports Medicine
  • Current Hot Shots coach and SCGTC Manager
  • Former collegiate track and field athlete
  • 15+ years of coaching experience

Tyler Shatsky (Compulsory and Optional Coach)

Tyler Shatsky  competed in the USA Junior Olympics Program with South Coast Gymnastics for 9 years and is in his 13th year of coaching gymnastics.

  • 2nd place all-around as an Open Optional at Regionals in 2003
  • 13+ years of coaching experience

Amanda Feltenberg (Girls Compulsory Coach)

Amanda Feltenberg competed in the USA Junior Olympics Program with South Coast Gymnastics for 8 years.  She is currently in her 3rd year of coaching gymnastics.
